Account Manager, Regional Sales:

Manages regional and/or target customer accounts primarily for the purpose of building and maintaining an ongoing business relationship that is mutually beneficial to both the customer and the company.

Account Manager Primary Duties:

  • Travel to customer sites, build good business relationship, promote products and services.
  • Solicit business opportunities including making cold calls
  • Review customer specifications to determine whether certain business opportunities are within our capabilities.
  • Create proposals and quotations for products, and services according to pricing policies.
  • Identify market potential and potential sales within an assigned region or market.
  • Prospect potential customer base to build awareness of Company’s offers and build opportunity.
  • Participate in commercial and promotional activities including, attending trade shows and conventions, making presentations to customers, developing commercial material to promote the Company.
  • Lead the effort to resolve commercial disputes within assigned customer base.
  • Provide commercial support and facilitate technical and project support to customers.
  • Assist as necessary in the process of resolving payment disputes with customers.
  • Provide regular reports to Company management regarding commercial contacts and market conditions.
  • You will be expected to travel up to 50% of the work week by aircraft or automobile to customer sites. You will work in an office setting or remote locations as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in a technical discipline.
  • Knowledge of electrical environments, and past sales of electrical products or services with a proven track record.
  • 5-7 years selling electrical products and services.

 

Buyer (OKC, OK):

Assures SWE locations purchase and receive materials on time and at economical costs. Prepare national contracts for items where applicable.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Use of MRP– Utilizes current SWE MRP module and other tools; suggests improvement for efficient flow of purchasing goods and materials. Communicates to individual sites Purchase Orders and date of delivery. Confirms delivery with vendor 3 days prior to expected date.
  • Provide Economy– Identifies materials that are shared among other divisions. Researches potential vendors for ability to service multiple locations at an economic measure. Consults Operations and Engineering where applicable for vendor selection.
  • Create P/N– Creates SWE Part Numbers upon request and places orders for requested items; suggests improvements for efficient flow.
  • Metric/KPIs– Helps establish and positively trend Central Purchasing/Supply Chain Metrics
  • Company Policy– Assists in the development of Company Policy, as well as assure compliance to established Policies.
  • Morale– Maintain positive morale through communication, actions, and positive use of site assets.
  • Continuous Process Improvement– Working with other departments, vendors and other SWE locations, monitors/ evaluates/ revises processes and procedures to assure a culture of Continuous Improvement.
  • Maintain a Safe Work Environment– Employees are responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Other Duties– Continually work in a safe manner in compliance with Company Environmental, Health, and Safety rules and guidelines.

Service Center Manager (OKC, OK):

Manages and directs all aspects of electric motor and associated electrical equipment service center activities. Direct manufacturing activities in an efficient manner to achieve the Company goals for safety, quality, productivity and on-time delivery. Manage, direct and implement operations strategies and objectives to insure the achievement of division goals. Plan, prepare, monitor, and forecast direct and/or indirect budgets. Help employees address and resolve a wide variety of concerns and complaints which typically involve job duties and job descriptions, performance standards, relations with coworkers and supervisors.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Management – Manage, direct, and implement operations strategies and objectives to ensure the achievement of division’s goals.
  • Budgeting – Plan, prepare, control, monitor, and forecast direct and/or indirect budgets. Achieve the division’s yearly financial objectives through planning, directing, controlling, implementing, evaluating, monitoring and forecasting as needed to achieve budget.
  • Hiring – Determine duties to be performed and recommend the best qualified candidate. This includes assisting in the development of job descriptions and interviewing candidates.
  • Orient & Train – Provide appropriate orientation for new employees. Training is an ongoing activity. Those who take on new responsibilities or experience job changes typically need additional direction and guidance for a period of time until the new work becomes more familiar.
  • Assign Work – Assign certain duties to employees, explaining how those duties are to be done (i.e. what level of performance will meet the supervisor’s expectations) and communicate how the successful performance of those duties will be measured.
  • Evaluate Performance – Proper attention to performance evaluation during the probationary period and carefully considered decisions as to whether the employee should pass probation can be critical. After probation is complete, continue to have regular, ongoing discussions during which you can provide feedback throughout the year; complete a specific written appraisal at least once annually.
  • Reward Performance – Recommend performance awards and/or merit increases when appropriate.
  • Approving Time Records and Requests for Time off – Sign weekly time and attendance records and approve requests for time off.
  • Resolve Complaints – Help employees address and resolve a wide variety of concerns and complaints. These typically involve job duties and job descriptions, performance standards, relations with coworkers, relations with supervisors and managers.
  • Discipline and Dismiss Employees –Address performance problems through corrective action and dismissal.
  • Develop your group leaders, acting as a mentor, and providing career coaching for employees.
  • Support staff on assigned project based work.
  • Continually work in a safe manner in compliance with Company EHS rules and guidelines.
  • Ability to work in a TEAM environment.
  • Knowledge of lockout/tag out, confined space, electrical safety and OSHA standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, effective team player.

Education and/or Experience:

  • BBA/BBM/BSEE/BSME degree from accredited University or equivalent with emphasis on business management; or five to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in the electrical and mechanical manufacturing field.
  • Background in managing electric motor repair is a preferred emphasis but not a requirement. Preferred experience in the electrical and mechanical manufacturing field.

 

Field Service Technician (Oklahoma City, OK):

Candidate must possess a basic understanding of electric motor (AC and DC) operation and the associated controls. Technician will perform installation, alignment, and balancing of rotating equipment in a site specific field location with supervision.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Basic proficiency performing installation, alignment and balancing of rotating equipment.
  • Proficient use of micrometers and calipers to measure critical machine fits.
  • Understand sleeve bearing and ball bearing operation
  • Ability to teardown, clean, and assemble mechanical apparatus and components with supervision
  • Install new or modified equipment at customer’s facility to insure full functionality according to specifications with supervision.
  • Knowledge of and capable to assist with basic repairs, testing, and troubleshooting of electric motors with supervision.
  • Conduct safe operations of the equipment and demonstrates skills to trainees, including both team members and customers with supervision.

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED), minimum of 2 years direct hands on related experience in repairing and maintaining electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

DOT & Safety Sensitive position. Must be able to pass DOT drug screen, physical and nationwide BG with a good driving record.

Electrical Engineer (Louisville, OH):

Ideal candidate is an experienced Electrical Design Engineer (Switchgear) to provide engineering designs, bill of materials (BOM), and instructions for the construction of customer specified electrical switchgear and successful fulfillment of technical requirements. Southwest Electric is headquartered in Oklahoma City but has a variety of regional facilities to provide national coverage, serving a large and diverse national and international customer base, which includes oil field service and exploration companies, utilities, large industrial processing and manufacturing companies, city and governmental entities and more. Custom Transformer Design (small to mid-sized) Electric Motors (up to 20,000 hp) Custom Switchgear (up to 69 kV) and Related Products Repair and Field Services for Substations & Transformers, Breakers and Switchgear, Electric Motors and Rotating Equipment and VFDs (including full commissioning and decommissioning services)

Job Duties:

  • Provide analysis, design, development, testing and installation for custom switchgear to include devices such as medium voltage switches, contactors and motor starters and relay, control and metering systems.
  • Manage projects and generate bills of materials, to include specifications for the purchase of materials.
  • Ability to apply power systems studies and power analysis using analysis software

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or EET
  • Demonstrated experience in the design of switchgear or similar electrical equipment, working with electrical schematics and wiring diagrams and performing Power Systems Studies.
  • 3-5 yrs of experience designing switchgear preferred
  • Ability to pass national criminal background check and drug screen

Account Manager, Substation & Switchgear:

This position will manage regional and/or target customer accounts primarily for the purpose of building and maintaining an on-going business relationship that is mutually beneficial to the customer and to our Company in the Tennessee region and grow our market share in the region. Selling Substation, MV Switchgear, Transformer and AC/DC Motor products and services. Job requires 80% travel.

Requirements:

  • 5 years of Service Sales experience
  • Electrical Industry experience (highly desired) MV Switchgear and/or Substation
  • Ability to pass a nationwide background check, drug screen and clean driving record.

 

Training Manager (Nashville, TN):

The ideal candidate must have a comprehensive understanding of substation/switchgear electrical apparatus and subsystems. Knowledge of and capable of repairing, testing and/or oil processing. Needs to be fully trained in all electrical safety aspects and must be capable of leading teams to accomplish complex tasks and develops plans, coordinates and directs the staff development and training program for the Field Services and Manufacturing personnel of the organization in coordination with Operations Managers and the goals of the Company.  The role requires frequent overnight travel to other locations as needed or required to coordinate and execute training for personnel at the various Company offices.

Education and Experience:

  • AA degree from a technical school or BS degree from an accredited University or 10 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Military experience is a plus
  • Electrical theory education and/or related experience is a plus
  • Minimum of 3 years operational experience in a field service environment or as a team crew leader
  • Must demonstrate safe and sound troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to pass a nationwide background check and drug screen.

Sr. Substation Technician

Qualifications:

  • Ability to perform all aspects of substation services (repair, processing & testing) and demonstrate an exceptional understanding of transformers, construction operation and the associated controls.
  • Ability to perform in shop and field transformer testing for Power Factor, Excitation and resistance readings per NETA/ANSI Standards and maintain operational mechanical systems including pump operations, valve operations and oil processing units.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Troubleshoot and test transformers using various methods and testing equipment including partial installation of transformer components.
  • Verify repairs using various start-up testing procedures.
  • Conduct acceptance testing and preventative maintenance in accordance with the published testing procedures.
  • Operate specialized test equipment including but not limited to: Power Factor Tester (DOBLE), Megohmmeters, AC/DC volt-ohm-millimeters, various kinds of hand-held power and non-power tools, etc.
  • Ability to make electrical measurements, mechanical adjustments, assemble and disassemble parts/equipment correctly.
  • Read and understand instruction manuals.
  • Maintain a professional attitude when representing the company during phone or personal contact with outside vendors, customers or service providers etc.
  • Observe all safety procedures and use proper protective gear.
  • Complete required paperwork for each job accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Perform other skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by supervisor.
  • Must be willing and able to travel on overnight, multi-day, out of town jobs.
  • Must be willing and able to work regular overtime including nights, weekends and some holidays.           
  • Acceptance and Diagnostic Testing, Substation Commissioning Testing, Relay Calibration
  • Doble, Transformer Turns ratio, Megger, Etc.
  • Problem and Failure Investigation, Internal Inspection & Condition Assessment
  • Paper Samples for Degree of Polymerization Testing

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED REQUIRED
  • Associates Degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical/Electronic Technology preferred.
  • 10+ years of commensurate Substation work experience preferred.
  • Electrical theory education and/or related experience is required.
  • Military experience is a plus.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment DOT drug screen, and physical.
  • Complete a satisfactory nationwide criminal background check.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift 50 + lbs., climb ladders, stand for extended periods of time.

Sr. Protective Relay & Controls Technician

Summary:

  • Conduct commissioning, testing, maintenance and repair of complex protective relaying schemes, metering remote control and data systems and capacitor control in generation, transmission and distribution substation environments. To facilitate the retrofit, upgrade, and replacement projects for electrical controls, SCADA, DCS and Power System Protection Equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Testing of Electro-mechanical, Numerical and Microprocessor based Protective Relays and control devices.
  • Perform installation, commissioning, testing and maintenance of protective relaying equipment, relaying schemes, DFR equipment, SCADA systems, distribution automation systems and associated communication equipment
  • Test over current/voltage, Directional, Distance, Impedance, Sync Check, Loss of field, reverse power, Multifunction relays etc.
  • Perform function testing of substation control circuits on relay panel, transformers & circuit breaker change outs.
  • Conduct differential and distance relay testing.
  • Assist in developing written standard commissioning, testing and maintenance procedures for protective relaying, DFR’s, RTU’s, IED’s, Distribution Automation and associated communication systems.
  • Interpreting customer and sales submitted technical documents, quotations, and service requests and applying that data directly to the quoted task at hand.
  • Communicating technical information clearly and concisely to management and customers.
  • Travel to job locations, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and properly applying pertinent technical and safety standards to the assigned work. i.e. (IEEE, NETA, NEMA, NEC).
  • Creating test reports and summaries of work completed.
  • Assist in training service technicians in basic protective relay and control systems.
  • Must be willing and able to travel on overnight, multi-day, out of town jobs.
  • Must be willing and able to work regular overtime including nights, weekends and some holidays.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED REQUIRED
  • Trade/Tech school with 10 years of proven OTJ experience in Power Systems Protection and Controls.
  • Or: Equivalent Military training plus proven OTJ experience in Power Systems Protection and Controls.
  • Or: University/College 2-4 year Engineering Technology plus related Power System Protection experience.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment DOT drug screen, and physical.
  • Complete a satisfactory nationwide criminal background check.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift 50 + lbs., climb ladders, stand for extended periods of time.

Switchgear Technician

Qualifications:

  • Candidate MUST have a minimum of three years’ of experience working directly as a Switchgear Technician.
  • Must have knowledge of breakers and other switchgear apparatus.
  • Must have testing skills and understand testing procedures and equipment.
  • Must demonstrate troubleshooting skills using basic test equipment and electrical schematics.
  • Capable of performing perform diagnostic testing and analysis.
  • Capable of working without supervision.
  • Capable of leading and /or training junior employees.
