    Field Service Operations Manager (Nashville, TN)

    Summary:

    Southwest Electric Co. is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to direct our Field Service offerings in our Nashville, Tennessee shop. The ideal candidate will direct Field Service activities in an efficient manner to achieve the Company’s goals for customer service, safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery. This position requires occasional overnight travel to other locations, customers, and vendors as needed or required to coordinate proposals and for the successful execution of Field Service projects.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Personnel Development – Plan, select, appraise, and appropriately staff the facility in accordance with business needs and performance.
    • Orient & Train – Identifies appropriate orientation and training for new and established employees, and establishes procedures to ensure such training takes place.
    • Assign work – Assign duties and direct employees, explaining how those duties are to be done (i.e. what level of performance will meet expectations) and communicate how the successful performance of those duties will be measured. Primary functions include planning and scheduling all resources required per services requested. Compiles, reviews, and approves hourly timesheets and expenses on a weekly basis.
    • Communication – Communicate and coordinate all internal and external resources and customers per the requirements of the services requested. Provide 24/7/365 availability or schedule backup as required to support service technicians and customer needs.
    • Reports – Complete, review, and interpret test reports. Reviews service reports and directs the resolution of operational, service, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and reduced delays.
    • Metric/KPIs – Establish and maintain processes and/or performance measures for efficient use of materials/ processes/ labor to achieve optimum results.
    • Company Policy – Assists in the development of company policy, as well as assure compliance to established policies.
    • Morale – Maintain positive morale through communication, actions, and positive use of site assets.

    Qualifications:

    Senior Electrical Engineer (Oklahoma City, OK)

    Summary:

    Perform as lead project engineer on complex projects and orders as assigned by the Engineering Manager. Provide engineering designs, bill of materials (BOM), and instructions for the construction of customer specified specialty transformers and successful fulfilment of technical requirements. Provide technical support and direction for mechanical and electrical drawings related to controls and equipment installed on specialty transformers. Able to apply engineering studies as required for, and in conjunction with, providing specialty transformers, to include Coordination Studies and Arc Flash Studies.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Perform various engineering tasks involving such functions as analysis, design, development, test, installation, and service work specific to specialty transformers to include phase shifting, step-up and isolation transformers used in conjunction with VFD applications
    • Review customers’ specifications and electrical/mechanical drawings to interpret and determine requirements with respect to manufacturing
    • Review electrical control wiring diagrams and/or one-line diagrams to interpret and determine the necessary changes required to meet the customer’s specifications
    • Manage projects/customer jobs and generate Bills of Materials, to include specifications for purchase of materials
    • Analyze test data and provide diagnostic solutions, this may involve preparing test reports for customers
    • Able to apply power systems studies and power quality analysis using analysis software
    • Develop test plans and P&C schemes
    • Provide technical support for shop floor personnel on manufacturing/wiring-related issues
    • Lead investigations of technical problems and efforts to establish new procedures and corrective actions, to include quality improvement projects supporting quality and productivity goals

    Qualifications

    • Minimum 4-year BS degree in Electrical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering Technology, from an accredited university or college
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience within the industry
    • Demonstrated expertise with the design of transformers or similar electrical equipment
    • Demonstrated experience and proficiency interpreting electrical schematics and physical wiring diagrams
    • Demonstrated skills in applying engineering calculations and design principles to determine the electrical, physical, and structural strengths and attributes of large electrical and mechanical components and/or assemblies
    • Demonstrated experience applying and/or performing Power Systems Studies using analysis software

    Account Manager - Substation, Switchgear (Nashville, TN)

    Summary:

    Southwest Electric Co. is looking for an experienced Account Manager to help build out and maintain our Substation, MV Switchgear, Transformer, and AC/DC Motor products and services. The Account Manager will manage regional and/or target customers from the Southeastern, Southern, and South-Central United States to maintain and grow market share. The ideal candidate will be willing to relocate to our Nashville, Tennessee office and join us on our 75th year Anniversary of “Growing Better Together”.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Travel to customer’s sites to maintain and build Southwest Electric’s Substation, M/V Switchgear, Transformer, and AC/DC Motor offerings and services
    • Solicit new business opportunities that fit within our strategic goals and objectives while cross selling our different verticals of business

    Inside Sales Manager (Nashville, TN)

    Summary:

    Southwest Electric Co. is looking for an Inside Salesperson to provide commercial support to account managers and customers including preparing quotations, processing orders, completing related electronic and paper documentation, helping to resolve commercial disputes, and maintaining an ongoing business relationship with account managers and customers that are mutually beneficial to both the customer and Southwest Electric.

    Inside Sales will work cooperatively with outside sales, sales management, and internal/external customers to deliver exceptional customer and sales support to Southwest Electric Company’s customer base in the commercial and industrial segment.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Review customer requests and develops scope of work for quotation preparation
    • Prepare quotations for Company products and services and route quotations to the appropriate sales channel
    • Act as primary sales support for sales representatives and outside salesmen
    • Provide product and technical information to outsides sales channels as necessary to help close orders
    • Follow up on open quotations and provide updates to sales management
    • Provide commercial support and facilitate technical support to customers

    Summary:

    Southwest Electric is looking for a seasoned Customer Service Representative in our OKC electric motor repair shop.     Assembly & Stacking Technician (Various Shifts in Oklahoma City, OK)

    Summary:

    Southwest Electric Co. is looking to add a few Assembly Technicians to its manufacturing plant in South Oklahoma City, OK. The Assembler /Stacker must be able to demonstrate the ability to assemble different components, parts, or sub-assemblies throughout the entire assembly process. Read, and understand manufacturing instructions, blueprints, process documents, and bills of material. The ideal Assembly and Stacking Technician will have good hand and eye coordination with demonstrated excellent manual dexterity. Assembler/Stacker must be able to lift 50 lbs. Assembler Stackers provide support to our transformer manufacturing operations. Interpret and understand manufacturing instructions, and transformer manufacturing operations. 

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Must be able to work 3rd shift and work overtime. 9pm-5:30am and possibly 7pm-5:30pm 
    • Must be able to read a tape measure and mics. 
    • Must be able to read and understand manufacturing instructions and bill of material (BOM). 
    • Performs all necessary work to take data and make calculations for winding all sizes and types of transformer coils. 
    • 10% shift differential added to base pay. 

    Qualifications:

    • HS Diploma or GED 
    • Ability to pass a national background check and drug screen. 
    • Ability to lift or move up to 50lbs. 
    • Ability to work 3rd shift and overtime 

    Welder and Fabricator Summary (Various Shifts in Oklahoma City, OK)

    Summary:

    Southwest Electric Co. has an immediate Welder opening in our Oklahoma City plant. The welder should proficiently use the equipment below to build leak-free transformer tanks, rigging, cabinets, and other components that conform to specifications. Good fit-up experience is a must. The work must be accomplished safely, within standard times.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Able to weld MIG, with some TIG welding, grind, cut, blueprint reading, read tape measure, layout, fitting, squaring, Arc gouging, operating cutting torches, and plasma cutter AWS standards
    • Fabricate components by using equipment to clean, prepare, cut, burn, and weld pieces, set up and measure assemblies, and select appropriate methods
    • Must know and understand weld symbols
    • Weld cover and perform various tank modifications
    • Reviews manufacturing instructions, diagrams, charts, and repair orders to determine work scope
    • Regularly attends work as scheduled
    • Follows safety rules and/or guidelines while performing daily work. Completes process control records

    Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma or GED
    • This position requires a minimum of 3 years of related experience in welding and fabrication
    • The successful completion of an accredited welding course is desired
    • Able to stand, stoop, and bend, sometimes for long periods. Must be able to lift to 50 lbs repetitively. Must be able to work in a sometimes hot, dusty, noisy environment without abnormal adverse effects
    • Comfortable with using the following equipment & tools: personal protective equipment, hoist, motorized pallet jack, welding equipment, MIG, TIG, and stick, plasma and acetylene torches, arc gouging equipment, tape measure, square, grinder, magnetic base drill, chipping tools, pliers and clamps, hydraulic pump and cylinder set, taps & dies, other common hand tools

     

    Field Service Technician II (Oklahoma City, OK)

    Summary:

    Candidate must possess a complete understanding of electric motor (AC and DC) operation and the associated controls. Technician will proficiently perform installation, alignment, and balancing of rotating equipment in a site-specific field location with limited supervision.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Complete proficiency performing installation, alignment and balancing of rotating equipment
    • Work with crew lead and junior employees to provide training and supervision
    • Proficient use of micrometers and calipers to measure critical machine fits
    • Understand sleeve bearing and ball bearing operation
    • Ability to teardown, clean and assemble mechanical apparatus and components
    • Install new or modified equipment at customer’s facility to insure full functionality according to specifications with limited supervision
    • Provide on-site technical assistance to troubleshoot and repair equipment
    • Provide communication link between the customer and the company to insure that effective service is provided to the customer
    • Analyzes inspection findings to determine source of problem and recommends repair, replacement, or other corrective action
    • Conduct safe operations of the equipment and demonstrates skills to trainees, including both team members and customers with limited supervision

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), minimum of 3 years direct hands on related experience in repairing and maintaining electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
    • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills are required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent
    • Minimum of 3 years of related experience is required
    • Must be able to pass various drug screens required by customers and DOT
    • Must have a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
    • Must possess own assorted hand tools to perform the related tasks
    • Ability to install, align and balance rotating equipment
    • Ability to identify potential maintenance problems, and recommend potential solutions
    • Ability to interpret blueprints and drawings

    OMD Repair Tech (Oklahoma City, OK)

    Summary:

    Southwest Electric Co. in Oklahoma City, OK is looking for an experienced Electric Motor Mechanic to join our family-owned and operated shop. The ideal candidate needs to understand how to test, teardown and repair a variety of industrial AC/DC motors. If you have experience utilizing a megger, high potential tester and balancing rotors and armatures feel free to apply and join our amazing family-oriented company.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Tests coils, armatures, stator, rotor, and field coils for continuity, shorts, and grounds and insulation resistance.
    • Ability to utilize Hi-Pot, Fluke, Megger (insulation resistance), volt & amp meters to test and record critical measurements with micrometers, calipers, etc.
    • Ability to balance rotors and armatures in stand balancer. Balance using portable balance equipment to perform trim balancing either on-site or in shop.
    • Ability to operate vacuum ovens, Baker Surge tester, Core tester, hydraulic bearing pullers, high voltage test panels for testing running motors.

    Qualifications:

    • HS Diploma or GED required and 2 years mechanical training at a Technology center.
    • 4+ years related experience and/or training equivalent combination.

    Motor Winder (Oklahoma City, OK)

    Summary:

    Provide winding support on various kinds of electric motors based off wiring diagrams and repair orders. Manufacture and install from wound and random wound coils on AC/DC electric motors, generators, armatures, rotors, stator coils and related electrical components.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Reviews wiring diagrams and repair order or examine sample coil to ascertain type and size of wire specified, and type, size, length, circumference, of coil to be wound.
    • Installs coils in stator.
    • Cut wire to form leads.
    • Connect coils by means of silver soldering.
    • Test coils for winding continuity.
    • Install leads to windings by means of hydraulic crimping.
    • Completes Process Control Records completely and accurately.
    • Safely operate various overhead cranes, forklifts, and various handheld power tools.
    • Support supervisors with various other plant assignments as needed.
    • Observe all safety procedures and use of proper protective gear.

    Qualifications:

    • Knowledge of basic electric concepts, hydraulics, and electrical and mechanical systems.
    • Must demonstrate troubleshooting skills utilizing Megger, Fluke, Ohm, Hi-Pot and Multimeter equipment, and test instruments.
    • Ability to read charts, diagrams, drawings, and blueprints.
    • High School Diploma or GED REQUIRED
    • 2+ years’ experience winding, servicing, and repairing industrial electric motors.
    • A minimum of 2 to 3 years’ experience in electrical/mechanical repair, motor shop servicing or completion of an accredited EASA or military training program.
    • Ability to work independently or as part of a team as applicable.
    • Requires diagnostic troubleshooting, disassembly, measurement, data collection, failure analysis, repair, re-assembly, testing and safety abilities at a career skilled tradesman level.

    Sr. Substation Technician (Tulsa, OK or Nashville, TN)

    Qualifications:

    • Ability to perform all aspects of substation services (repair, processing & testing) and demonstrate an exceptional understanding of transformers, construction operation and the associated controls.
    • Ability to perform in shop and field transformer testing for Power Factor, Excitation and resistance readings per NETA/ANSI Standards and maintain operational mechanical systems including pump operations, valve operations and oil processing units.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Troubleshoot and test transformers using various methods and testing equipment including partial installation of transformer components.
    • Verify repairs using various start-up testing procedures.
    • Conduct acceptance testing and preventative maintenance in accordance with the published testing procedures.
    • Operate specialized test equipment including but not limited to: Power Factor Tester (DOBLE), Megohmmeters, AC/DC volt-ohm-millimeters, various kinds of hand-held power and non-power tools, etc.
    • Ability to make electrical measurements, mechanical adjustments, assemble and disassemble parts/equipment correctly.
    • Read and understand instruction manuals.
    • Maintain a professional attitude when representing the company during phone or personal contact with outside vendors, customers or service providers etc.
    • Observe all safety procedures and use proper protective gear.
    • Complete required paperwork for each job accurately and on a timely basis.
    • Perform other skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by supervisor.
    • Must be willing and able to travel on overnight, multi-day, out of town jobs.
