Summary

Southwest Electric is looking for Welders to provide welding support for our transformer manufacturing operations in OKC. The ideal candidate will be able to read and comprehend blueprints and manufacturing instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Able to weld MIG, with some TIG welding, grind, cut, blueprint reading, read tape measure, layout, fitting, squaring, Arc gouging, operating cutting torches, and plasma cutter AWS standards
  • Fabricate components by using equipment to clean, prepare, cut, burn, and weld pieces, set up and measure assemblies, and select appropriate methods
  • Must know and understand weld symbols
  • Weld cover and perform various tank modifications
  • Reviews manufacturing instructions, diagrams, charts, and repair orders to determine work scope
  • Regularly attends work as scheduled
  • Follows safety rules and/or guidelines while performing daily work. Completes process control records

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • This position requires a minimum of 3 years of related experience in welding and fabrication
  • The successful completion of an accredited welding course is desired
  • Able to stand, stoop, and bend, sometimes for long periods. Must be able to lift to 50 lbs repetitively. Must be able to work in a sometimes hot, dusty, noisy environment without abnormal adverse effects
  • Comfortable with using the following equipment & tools: personal protective equipment, hoist, motorized pallet jack, welding equipment, MIG, TIG, and stick, plasma and acetylene torches, arc gouging equipment, tape measure, square, grinder, magnetic base drill, chipping tools, pliers and clamps, hydraulic pump and cylinder set, taps & dies, other common hand tools
