Truck Driver - Motor Division

Summary

Drive truck with capacity up to 40,000 pounds to transport materials to and from specified destinations such as the shop and customer location. Must secure the load for traveling, tarp the equipment to protect the transported equipment from wet weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Help load/unload and ship motors and accessories.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Follow safety rules and/or guidelines while performing daily work.
  • Complete process control records.
  • Verifies load against shipping papers.
  • Prepares receipts for load picked up.
  • Relay pertinent nameplate information back to the plant upon pick up of motor.
  • Maintains electronic truck log according to state and federal regulations.
  • Loads and unloads truck in a proper and safe manner.
  • Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil and water.
  • Safely operate various overhead cranes, forklifts, hand held power tools.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance activities on all company equipment.
  • Support supervisors with various other plant assignments as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required

2 years minimum related commercial truck driving experience.

Ability to pass various drug screens required by customers in order to access their locations.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

Basic computer knowledge.
