Summary

Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
• Receive and fill complex parts orders.
• Prepare sales slips and shipping documents.
• Affixes shipping labels on packed containers.
• Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.
• Ship large truck and small package shipments on a daily basis.
• Inserts items into containers.
• Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape.
• Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
• Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
• Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
• Routes items to departments.
• Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
• Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
• Operate forklift uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
• Keep warehouse and parts room clean and organized.
• Perform inventory of stock and maintain inventory control.
• Regularly attends work as scheduled.
• Follows safety rules and/or guidelines while performing daily work
• Maintain safe work environment by following procedures.
• Follow direction; maintain focus and a positive attitude at all times.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
Two plus years related experience and/or training.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50+ pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
