Summary

Provide winding support on various kinds of electric motors based off wiring diagrams and repair orders. Manufacture and install from wound and random wound coils on AC/DC electric motors, generators, armatures, rotors, stator coils and related electrical components.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews wiring diagrams and repair order or examine sample coil to ascertain type and size of wire specified, and type, size, length, circumference, of coil to be wound.
  • Installs coils in stator.
  • Cut wire to form leads.
  • Connect coils by means of silver soldering.
  • Test coils for winding continuity.
  • Install leads to windings by means of hydraulic crimping.
  • Completes Process Control Records completely and accurately.
  • Safely operate various overhead cranes, forklifts, and various handheld power tools.
  • Support supervisors with various other plant assignments as needed.
  • Observe all safety procedures and use of proper protective gear.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of basic electric concepts, hydraulics, and electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Must demonstrate troubleshooting skills utilizing Megger, Fluke, Ohm, Hi-Pot and Multimeter equipment, and test instruments.
  • Ability to read charts, diagrams, drawings, and blueprints.
  • High School Diploma or GED REQUIRED
  • 2+ years’ experience winding, servicing, and repairing industrial electric motors.
  • A minimum of 2 to 3 years’ experience in electrical/mechanical repair, motor shop servicing or completion of an accredited EASA or military training program.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team as applicable.
  • Requires diagnostic troubleshooting, disassembly, measurement, data collection, failure analysis, repair, re-assembly, testing and safety abilities at a career skilled tradesman level.
