Trainee, Field Service

Summary
The trainee will tear down, clean and assemble mechanical apparatus and components with the ability to provide basic field service support as needed.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- To disassemble, clean and reassemble mechanical apparatus and components.
- Capable of providing field support as required.
- Candidate must be able to understand & follow directions, learn OTJ and perform all assigned activities while maintaining a safe work ethic and adhering to all safety and environmental practices and regulations.
- Must be willing and able to travel on overnight, multi-day, out of town jobs.
- Must be willing and able to work regular overtime including nights, weekends and some holidays.
Non Essential (Secondary) Duties:
- Maintain a professional attitude when representing the company during phone or personal contact with outside vendors, customers or service providers, etc.
- Observe all safety procedures and use of proper protective gear.
- Perform other non-skilled duties as directed by supervisor.

- Working near moving mechanical parts and around energized high-voltage equipment.
Requirements
Competencies:
- Capable of teardown, repair or maintenance of substation apparatuses.
- Basic understanding of pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems.
Qualifications:
- Ability to pass a pre-employment DOT drug screen, and physical.
- Complete a satisfactory nationwide criminal background check.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift 50 + lbs., climb ladders, stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to work for extended periods which includes overtime, weekends and holidays with minimal notice.
Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED REQUIRED
- Specialized training in a technical discipline, trade school or electrical theory education preferred.
- Military experience a plus.
Language Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret English language documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, reports and procedure manuals.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual shall have basic computer competence and the ability to work with common software such as MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
