Southwest Electric's Switchgear Service Centers offer complete testing, calibration, repair, reconditioning, remanufacturing and retrofitting services for all brands of switchgear with power circuit breakers from 600 volt class through 34.5 kV.  This includes low voltage "metal frame" breakers, low and medium voltage switches, protective relays, and medium voltage air-magnetic or vacuum circuit breakers and motor starter contactors

Work can be performed at your plant site or substation or in our modern shop facilities in workspace dedicated solely to circuit breaker and protective relay services.  Southwest Electric's switchgear technicians and specialists are skilled, trained, experienced craftsmen who take great pride in doing top quality and thorough jobs, while providing excellent documentation of the work performed.  The average switchgear experience per person exceeds 18 years.  Resident engineering support is available within Southwest Electric when needed to assure reliability and proper application of components and parts.

Procedures and methods utilized in rebuilding circuit breakers and contactors far exceed accepted industry standards and services typically offered by switchgear service suppliers.  Unless dictated otherwise by customer needs or specifications,, breakers are completely disassembled.  All conductive elements and parts are rotofinished to provide polished conductive surfaces and achieve low contact resistance (low "Ductor" readings) with minimal material erosion, giving extended life to conductive elements.  After dry out and assembly, all pivot points are lubricated prior to final testing.  High current testing is performed on all low voltage power circuit breakers to test tripping curve accuracy instead of the less rigorous secondary control circuit current injection method used by some service suppliers.
